6th Annual I-5 Challenge "Bud Cup" - KRISTA TAKES SECOND!!

September 30 - The 6th Annual I-5 Challenge, otherwise known as, "The Bud Cup," has come and gone. Team Hadley showed they have what it takes to run with the big dogs, and and even whip a few. It turned out to be a weekend that Krista Hadley, will remember quite a long time.
There was a few car changes for the team, which may have created some havoc for fans and announcers, but that didn't seem to matter on the track. Terry showed up in the number 17xxx, "Batman" car. Joe Guider slipped in to Terry's number 18 Super-4, and Jaime Guider gave up the Mini-Stock to take a shot in her Dad's number 19 "Spiderman" Super-4. Krista Hadley stayed put in her trademark number 16 Super-4.
Qualifying began on Friday, with each car taking two timed laps. Terry Hadley ran a fast time of 16.122 seconds, good enough for third. Krista Hadley put down a lap time of 16.701 seconds, and that put her fifth. "Spiderman," Joe Guider completed his time in with a lap of 16.891, good enough for sixth. Jaime Guider rounded out Team Hadley with a time of 17.521, which landed her in 13th.
Heat racing action was straight forward and actually very uneventful. The first heat race pitted three teammates against one another. Though Terry Hadley bested them by finishing second, Krista Hadley crossed the line in fourth, followed closely by "Intimidator Barbie" Jaime Guider in fifth. The second heat race wasn't exactly what Joe Guider wanted, but finishing fourth in an unfamiliar car is quite an accomplishment. That rounded out the racing action for Friday night.
Saturday's events started off with the "Fast Dash" as they call it. It pitted the top six fastest qualifiers against one another. Three of those six spots taken by Team Hadley. Joe Guider would start on the pole. Followed by Krista Hadley in second, and Terry Hadley in fourth. As the green dropped, Krista took advantage of the tacky high line, and motored past Joe to take the lead. After leading for a lap and a half, former "Bud Cup" winner Bob Westcot, from Portland, OR, drove under Krista to take first place. Meanwhile, Terry was still trying to find the right line for the "Batman" car and was mostly using the race as a tuner for the A-Main. He was running in fourth. Joe found out quickly that Terry's number 18 Super-4 was a bit different than his car. Struggling a bit with the handling, Joe soon found a line that worked, and was on a rail.
As the race finished up, Krista never did let Westcot get too far out in front and finished the race in second place. Terry crossed the line in the fourth position, and Joe took the flag in the fifth slot. A great race to watch, and quite a run for Krista.
The A-Main was one of highs and lows. Jaime Guider would start the race third. Krista started fifth. Joe sixth, and Terry rounded out the team by starting ninth. As the green flag waved, it was just a blur of color and sound. 19 cars blasted into turn one, and in true form at the Southern Oregon Speedway, they were three wide, three rows deep coming out of turn two heading down the back stretch. All Team Hadley drivers were picking cars off one at a time. Some using the high line, while others tried it down low. Eventually they found themselves in the top six.
A late race caution came out, which was to be the demise of Terry Hadley, and past winner Bob Westcot. As the green flag to get things started again, both cars looked slow, and sounded worse. At the same time, both drivers pulled off the track. That handed the lead to Rick Rapp, followed by Krista Hadley, who was pulling ahead of of Joe Guider in third, and Jaime Guider in fifth. As if on cue, all the cars just seemed to follow each other for the remaining laps.
The checkered flag waved for the winner, Rick Rapp. As the crowed cheered, Krista Hadley shocked the field by finishing second. Joe Guider worked his usual magic and came in third. Jaime Guider did fantastic in an unfamiliar car to cross the line in the fifth place spot. While disappointed with his eventual 16th place finish, Terry Hadley, was all smiles for his wife, and teammates.
One side note for racing fans and drivers, though the rules allowed for a lot of changes to the Super-4's to run in the "Open Comp" race, the ONLY change made to Krista, and Joe's cars were bigger tires. To have that be the only change shows just how much car set up, and driving skills all the drivers have.
It was a frustrating last few races for Krista, but she came back with a vengeance and a determination to put an exclamation point at the end of a successful 2006 season for all of Team Hadley.
We'll see everyone next season, and thank you so much for your support of the team, and racing here in Southern Oregon.

"SPIDERMAN" JOE GUIDER WINS 2006 CHAMPIONSHIP

September 23 - The 2006 racing season has come to end at the Southern Oregon Speedway, and Team Hadley finished it on a high note. Taking three of the top four positions in the Super-4's, and second in the Mini-Stocks.
In the Mini-Stock class, "Intimidator Barbie," Jaime Guider, capped off a successful season by finishing second in the points. That is a new record for the track. She became the first woman to finish that high in point standings in the tracks history. Quite an accomplishment. Though she didn't get the A-Main win she wanted, she often lead races, and made some great charges through the field after a poor starting position. Jaime won four Trophy Dash races, and finished in the top five, 13 out of 14 races in feature events. Being second in the points is nothing to sneeze at either. It shows the racing community that you not only have a fast car, it also shows that you can drive. As far as next year goes, Jaime announced that she will be moving up into the Super-4 class, joining the rest of Team Hadley.
"Spiderman" Joe Guider, claimed the 2006 Championship in the Super-4 class Saturday night. Though it wasn't his most dominant night of racing, it didn't matter. He had enough of a points cushion, that all he had to do was finish each race. Joe had the type of season that all racers dream of. A fast car, great driving, consistency, and a little bit of luck at times, made for some great racing this year. Joe won three feature races, and often found himself in Trophy Dash races to pick up needed bonus points to help his cause. Not many people knew that for the last race, he was nursing a hurt race car. He was praying to the racing gods that his motor would last, and that his clutch would hold. Just like his year went, it worked out just fine. "Spiderman" will be back next year in the Super-4's, and it will be great to see him defend his title, especially since his daughter is joining the class.
Though Terry Hadley finished second to his friend, and teammate in the Super 4 class, he battled right to the very end. Night after night, he went out there with a mission. To win. He did. Four times to be exact. Out of 13 races in the books, that's a great ratio. After battling some car setup ideas midseason, Terry found the right mix and started seeing the results that he wanted. Those results transferred into three wins in the last 6 races. That is always a boost to a driver, and team. Terry plans to be back in the Super-4's next year, and even run some open-comp races in his "Batman" car. That is always fun to watch.
The other lady of the team, Krista Hadley, had a great rookie season. she might argue that point, but when you look at the scope of things. A brand new car, and moving into a new racing class, finishing fourth in the points is a success. At times she thrilled us with winning three heat races, and scared us with her almost wrecks after hitting the walls, not once, but three times. Frustrated at times, she came back week after week. Wanting to do better, and wanting to learn more. Finishing in the top 10, 12 of 13 races, and 6 top fives is great. Krista showed the other drivers she may be a rookie in the class, but she has skills, and will be a driver to watch for next season in the Super-4's.
On a side note, Terry and Krista would like to thank, "Mikey," back in the shop. Not only does Mike work full time, but he has also put in countless hours fixing the cars after races, getting them ready for race day, and helping out at the track. Some think he's crazy for doing it, but if you ask him, he'll tell you he loves it. It's a hobby to him. Regardless, Terry and Krista, wanted the fans and sponsors to know about the other side of racing. With that being said, thank you, "Mikey!"
Now just because the points season may be done with, there is one more race to come, the I-5 Challenge Bud Cup. All the team will be out there for that one, including Terry driving the "Batman' car. Fast and fun are the key words for the two day, special event weekend.

THE CLOCK IS TICKING - TEAM PREPARES FOR FINAL POINTS RACE

September 16 - Terry Hadley wanted to add to his winning streak of three races into the night, and "Spiderman" Joe Guider, was looking to keep Terry behind him in the points. Krista Hadley just wanted to have fun and enjoy the night, while Jaime Guider still wanted to win her first A-Main. Well, the night was young, and the clock is ticking.
The night got underway with the Mini-Stock class, and Jaime Guider knew she had a fast car. Starting second in her heat race, she had her season nemesis, Milt Carter there with her. The two battled for the lead, but it wasn't enough. Milt won, with Jaime taking second.
The first Super-4 heat race once again pitted not only teammates, but husband and wife tandem of Terry and Krista Hadley against one another. Krista started second, and Terry started fifth. After a few laps, Terry caught Krista, and the race was on. Terry did everything he could, but Krista held him off to finish third, and Terry came in fourth.
Joe Guider started the second heat race in fifth. Looking to add to his points lead, he only needed to finish fourth or better to keep Terry behind him. Well, Joe raced his way to the to the leader, and finished second. He moved on to the trophy dash.
The trophy dash for the Mini's was a small victory for "Intimidator Barbie" Jaime Guider. Taking an early lead, it was all she would need, as Milt just couldn't catch her. Jaime won her fourth trophy dash race of the season.
The Super-4 trophy dash was nothing but points padding for Joe Guider, so any position for him was going to be an added bonus. Not wanting to just settle for easy points, Joe took off, and followed in his daughters foot steps, winning his fourth trophy dash race of the season also.
The Mini-Stocks took the track for their A-Main race, where Jaime found herself in the third place starting position. When the green flag waved, Jaime made her move on the low side going into turn one. Her car stuck, and as they came out of turn two, Jaime had the lead. Knowing that Milt Carter would be on her tail soon, she mashed the gas, and tried to put as much room between her and Milt as possible.
As it's been all season, Milt eventually found his way to Jaime's rear bumper. The two competitors put on one heck of a race for the lead. Jaime running the high line. Milt trying down low. Back and forth, lap after lap. As the race was winding to a close, Jaime slipped a bit in between turns three and four, and Milt took advantage of it. He took the lead from her, but not by much.
As the white flag came out, Jaime was pushing her car as hard as she could to get to Milt, but just as a few laps before, Jaime slipped, and as they came out of turn four to take the checkered flag, another driver got by Jaime at the line. Jaime took home third place, but what a show she put on.
The Super-4 A-Main got under way with Krista Hadley starting second, Joe Guider third, and Terry Hadley starting seventh. As the green started the action, Joe made his car stick down low, as the front three starters made it three wide coming out of turn two heading down the backstretch. Going into turn three, Joe took the lead, as he used the inside of the track to gain the position.
That didn't last too long, as Terry Hadley was charging through the field, and before you could say, "Uh oh," Terry was challenging him for the lead. Making quick work of Joe, Terry didn't get too far. Joe didn't want to hand Terry his fourth race in a row. The two put on a great battle for several laps. Each trying different lines, and mashing the gas. This was about to end as Rick Rapp caught them both to take the lead, bringing another driver with him. It was now a battle of fast cars mixed in with lapped drivers.
Meanwhile, Krista Hadley was on the outside of another driver in the forth place spot, when the other driver moved up, and just like the week before, she found herself driving on the wall. This time, she wasn't able to keep the gas mashed as she came down. It was a hard landing, and forced off the track in turn one as the car stalled. As the yellow was out, track officials looked over her car, and gave her the okay to keep driving, and found herself one lap down.
With a handful of laps to go, Terry and Joe found themselves on the outside looking in. Terry wanted to keep the streak of wins going, and Joe just wanted to keep Terry as close to him as possible as not to lose any points. The green flag came out to restart the race, and it was going to be a just a little to late for Terry as he finished fourth. He couldn't catch the leaders, and his winning streak was ended at three. Joe maintained his points lead over Terry by taking home fifth, and Krista knew she was going to need a miracle to catch Rick Rapp and win the Rookie title by finishing 11th.
Next week is the final points race of the season for the drivers, and as anyone knows, it ain't over 'till it's over. It should be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

TERRY HADLEY 3-PEATS!

September 9 - Terry Hadley continued his winning ways Saturday night as he won his third race in a row, and inched closer to his teammate, Joe Guider, in the points.
Once again the track was a bit muddy for the heat races, which created some interesting driving. The Mini-Stock class started things off, with Jaime Guider starting second. It was soon apparent that the track conditions were still a bit too slick for her, as she found herself slipping back in the field. When the checkers came out, Jaime crossed the line in fifth.
The first Super-4 heat race found husband and wife, Terry and Krista Hadley, ready to do battle. The track was still a little bit slick, so that left one groove for traction. Krista held off Terry most of the race, as she crossed the line in third, and Terry came across in fourth.
The second of the Super-4 heat race saw Joe Guider, who started seventh, work the middle of the track, and made some great passes. Even though most of the drivers were using the high line, Joe made his car work down low, and picked off one car at a time, enroute to a third place finish.
The Mini-Stock A-Main didn't help, "Intimidator Barbie" Jaime Guider, any. She found herself starting the race in 14th place. Not where she really wanted to be. Not letting that bother her, Jaime was a woman on a mission. From the drop of the green flag, she set her sights on one car after the other. Thanks to lots of green flag racing, the field spread out, which helped Jaime gain one spot after the other.
Knowing that the race couldn't last that long without a caution, it finally came out as cars tangled on the back stretch. Jaime had worked her way up to fourth place. With lapped cars between her and the front runner, she had her hands full as the green waved once again for the remaining few laps. After getting passed some of slower cars, she pushed that car for all it was worth, but it was just a little too late. The race ended with Jaime finishing in fourth, helping her to keep a hold of the second place spot in the points.
The Super-4's had a great track to run their A-Main feature race on tonight. All three Team Hadley Drivers were in the first two rows. Terry Hadley started second, "Spiderman" Joe Guider started third, and Krista Hadley started the race in fourth. At the start of the race, Joe dove to the inside of the pole setter and Terry, making it three wide going into turn one. Normally that would have been a disaster, but with the driving skills of Terry and Joe, all three cars made it into turn two just fine. Terry took the lead as they entered the back stretch, with Joe right on his back bumper.
Terry and Joe put on a great battle for several laps. Each driver trying different lines as they raced. Krista held her own for several laps too as she held the fourth place spot, keeping her car on the high side of the track. It wasn't to last as Rick Rapp was working his way up to her. As they battled for a couple of laps, Rick saw his chance as they entered turn 3. Krista slipped in the middle of the corner, which gave Rick the low line he needed. He dove down, and made it stick. As the two cars came out of turn four, Krista was going for it on the outside. Then before anyone could believe it, Krista's outside wheels caught the marbles, and shot her directly into the front stretch wall. Pulling a page out of the Joey Chitwood stunt driving lessons, Krista's car was literally driving on the wall. From the pits, all you could see was the top of her car. Then as smooth as ever, Krista drove the car off the wall, and back onto the track, mashing the gas to get going just as quick. Needless to say, several people in the pits thought she was going to roll the car for sure.
Just as the race was winding down, a car going into turn one suddenly exploded into flames. The result of a blown motor, and oil getting onto the headers, which instantly caught fire. That brought out the red flag. After the safety crew had things taken care of, they lined the field back up, and got ready for the final two laps of racing. With Terry leading, Joe found his car starting to smoke. With a green, white, checker, scenario, all Terry had to do was just hold his line. As the green flag came out, Terry took off, and never looked back. He won his third race in a row, and fourth of the season. Joe Guider crossed the line third, and daredevil, Krista came in sixth. A great night all around.

TERRY HADLEY MAKES IT 2 WINS IN A ROW - RACING LUCK PLAYS A ROLE

August 26 - Terry Hadley picked up his second feature race win in a row with a little bit of help from the racing gods Saturday night.

The heat races for the Super-4's were anything but fun.  A soggy track made for some very loose race cars as the first heat race got under way.  Terry Hadley, and Joe Guider both struggled on the slop which saw Terry finish fourth, and "Spiderman" Joe Guider finished a disappointing seventh.

The second heat race saw Krista Hadley take the high line at the start, and never looked back as he won her third heat race of the season.

As the team mulled over car setups for the A-Main, the crew attempted to clean off the mud that had accumulated on Terry's car.  Needless to say, that battle was a draw.

The feature race got underway with Terry jumping to an early lead after starting second.  Krista did her best to hold on to her starting position of seventh, but after a few laps, she was in a battle with other drivers.  Meanwhile, Joe started the race 13th, and was systematically picking off one driver at a time.

For the most part, the race stayed green, with battles going on all over the track.  About half way through the race, Rick Rapp caught Terry, and the race was on for the lead.  Rick eventually took the lead, and brought John Barger with him.

The leader and second place drivers battled side by side, for a full lap, then it happened.  Both cars tangled going into turn 3, and the caution came out.  As that happened, John Barger raced Terry back to the line, and this is where the racing luck came into play.  The track officials place Rick Rapp in the back of the pack for spinning out, and gave John Barger the black flag for rough driving.  Terry found himself leading the race with just a handful of laps to go.

As the green flag waved to restart the race, Terry never relinquished the spot, and took the checkers for his second win in a row.  Also tying teammate, Joe Guider with three wins on the season.

Not to be forgotten, Joe showed why he's the points leader by finishing the race in fourth.  Krista Hadley struggled with her car throughout the race but did manage another top 10 finish, winding up eighth.

TERRY HADLEY COMES FROM 10TH TO WIN HIS SECOND FEATURE RACE

August 12 - The night didn't exactly start off the way Terry Hadley wanted it to, but it sure finished the way he wanted.

The first heat race had "Spiderman" Joe Guider, which took him a few laps to gain the lead after starting fifth.  The track wasn't exactly what Joe normally likes to drive on, so he had to work to maintain the lead.  As the checkers waved, Joe won the heat race.

The second heat race saw husband and wife Terry and Krista Hadley do battle once again.  As the race just got under way, Terry spun.  Knowing that he would finish last, he decided to pull off the track, and take the poor start during the A-Main.  As he went to pull off the track, another car came down his outside, and the two cars collided.  That brought out the yellow.  As Terry pulled into the pits, shame was all over his face.  He immediately apologized the the crew, then walked straight over to the other teams pits, where he and the other driver talked.  No hard feelings after the meeting.

Meanwhile, as the race continued, Krista ended up getting the left front of her car flattened by another competitor, and managed to hold on for a fourth place finish.  Needless to say, she wasn't happy when she got to the pits.  The crew took a few minutes, evaluated the damage, and made quick work of the repairs.

Jaime Guider, otherwise known as "Intimidator Barbie," started her heat race second.  That was all she needed, cause as the race ended, she found herself crossing the line first.  Picking up another heat race win, and valuable points.

The Trophy Dash race was one that Joe Guider might have wanted to skip as he just couldn't get a hold of the track.  Though he started 7, he only managed to work his way up to the fifth position where he would eventually finish.

Jaime Guider found herself struggling with the race track during her Trophy Dash race.  The car just wasn't hooking up for her, and as a result, finished fourth.

The Mini-Stock A-Main was a three car race.  Unfortunately, Jaime wasn't one of those three cars.  Adjustments made by her crew seemed to help her cars handling, but traffic, kept slowing her down.  She did an awesome job of weaving between cars, and keeping the top three cars in her sights, but wound up finishing fourth.  Another top-5 finish is what she needed for points, and even after the race, she still flashed that trademark smile.

The Super-4 A-Main was one that Terry Hadley, and the team won't soon forget.  As the race got underway, Krista Hadley had the early lead, but soon found herself being overtaken, and not very nicely, by another racer.  After having the left side of her car caved in, Krista lost three positions as a result.  Meanwhile, Terry Hadley, was picking one car off at a time, and soon found himself next to teammate, "Spiderman" Joe Guider.  As the two drivers went into turn three, Terry dove down inside of Joe, and feathered the throttle to take over the position.

Midway through the race, Krista finally got passed by Joe as the damage to her car was affecting the handling.  Sheet metal was rubbing on the left front, and was preventing her from turning the car normally.

As Krista was fighting traffic and her car, Terry found himself closer to the leaders.  After taking over third place, it was evident, that there might be enough time for him to catch the leader.

With 4 laps to go, Terry had raced his way up to the leaders bumper.  It was go time.  Both Terry and the leader ran different lines.  The leader trying to hold off Terry, and Terry trying to find his way around the leader.

As the cars crossed the line with 3 laps to go, Terry worked the high line.  Holding that line going into turn three, Terry pulled even with the leader as they came out of turn four.  As they crossed the line, Terry had a slight lead.  Going into turn one, he held the pedal a little bit longer, and used the momentum to take the lead for good.

As the checkered flag waved, Terry did something that really hasn't been done that often.  Start that far back in the field, and win.  The smile on Terry's face after the race said it all.  The first thing Terry said after the race was, "That was for Krista."  Referring to her heat race altercation with another driver.  Nothing sweeter than avenging your wife.

"SPIDERMAN" JOE GUIDER SPINS HIS WEB ON THE COMPETITION - WINS ALL 3 RACES

July 15 - As Team Hadley enjoys owning the top 3 positions in the A-Main point standings of the Super-4's, "Spiderman" Joe Guider dominated the class on Saturday.

The first heat race had not only teammates, but husband and wife, Terry Hadley and Krista Hadley, racing against one another.  Starting first, Krista, had the inside line going into turn one, and battled to hold that position.  Terry quickly caught Krista, and the duel was on.  Krista was mostly using the high line, forcing Terry to the middle or down low, but it didn't matter.  The closest he could get to Krista was her back bumper.  Krista won her second heat race, and Terry finished second.

The second heat race left Joe Guider to battle with the likes of Rick Rapp and A.J. Salyer.  It was quickly apparent that Joe was going to win.  Just two laps in Salyer left the track with mechanical problems, and Rapp was racing for all he had for the second place position.  By the time the checkered flag waved, Joe had the win by more than 1.5 seconds.

The trophy dash was another Joe Guider walk away.  Krista Hadley had a bobble in the corner, and quickly fell back to 4th, while Terry Hadley continued to struggle with a loose condition of his race car.  When the mud slinging was done, Joe notched another trophy dash, and his second win of the night.

In the A-Main, Joe Guider had some competition from new comer, Jake Cole.  Early into the race, a car spun in between turns 3 and 4, bringing out the caution flag, and with no where to go, Terry Hadley hit the brakes to avoid hitting the other driver, and spun.  Facing the other cars, Terry sat there helplessly, hoping no one would hit him.  Unfortunately, that meant Terry was going to have a long race, as that spin put him a lap down.

At the restart, Joe Guider maintained the lead, with other drivers right on his heals.  Krista Hadley was driving the car with renewed energy, and was having her own battle for the 4th place position.

As the laps wound down, 1st place driver Guider, and 2nd place driver, Jake Cole separated themselves from the rest of the field.  Krista, in 4th, was doing everything she could to keep that position.  Meanwhile, Terry was doing everything he could to get back on the lead lap.

As the white flag came out, everyone was wondering if Joe could take the win.  Holding off 2nd place, Jake Cole, Joe took a different line in turns 1 and 2, and that gave Joe the cushion he needed.  At the finish line, "Spiderman," Joe Guider crossed the line first, to take home his 3rd A-Main win of the season.

Determined not give up her position, Krista Hadley just held off the 5th place driver to notch a 4th place finish.  Terry Hadley worked his way from the back to a 10th place finish.

It's a rare occasion that a driver wins the heat race, the trophy dash, and the A-Main on the same night.  Something Joe Guider should be proud of, and remember for a long time.

TEAM HADLEY HAS A ROUGH NIGHT - BUT FINISHES STRONG

July 8 - Spin outs, broken noses, and damaged wheels didn't keep the team from having a great night of racing.

Starting with the heat races, Terry didn't know what to expect with his car as he went back to some original settings for handling.  While Krista was also going into uncharted waters with her car as she played with stagger.

As the heat race started, it was clear right off the bat, Krista's car was hooked up.  The pushing problem she had in the corners was gone.  Terry on the other hand, had his hands full.  After spinning out twice, and bringing out cautions both times, he was given the black flag.  His race was done.

Krista on the other hand, was in a battle for the lead.  After taking the white flag, her and the other car were virtually side by side down the back stretch.  Krista inside, the other outside.  As they entered turn 3, Krista took the low line, he the high.  As they came out of turn 4, both drivers mashed the gas.  It was going to be anyone's race.  Literally side by side at the finish line, Krista crossed the line first by about 3 feet, to pick up her first Super-4 win.

Joe Guider battled with Rick Rapp in his heat race, where Joe eventually took the win by just under a second over Rick.

The trophy dash proved to be a little tougher for Joe and Krista, as both cars couldn't keep up with the rocket of Rick Rapp.  Joe finished second, while Krista crossed the line in 3rd.

After the trophy dash races, Terry consulted a friend of his who also races, and got some ideas about his car.  After mulling it over, and talking with his crew, Terry decided to go half way on the adjustments.  Now it was just time to wait for the A-Main to see if the gamble would pay off.

Racing action that night was fast and furious, so it didn't take long for the Super-4 A-Main to begin.  As it did, everyone knew it was going to be a rough night.

As the race started, before even one lap could be completed, Joe Guider found himself in a wreck.  The entire nose of Joe's car was pushed up into the air.  Exposing his radiator, and front end.  The track announcer even commented, "I can't tell if the front of the 19 car looks like a duck bill, or a platypus."  That's how bad it was.  Joe went into the pits to have his crew look at his car, and came back out.

As Joe was getting involved in his wreck, Krista Hadley was getting into her own.  In between turn 3 and 4, a car spun right in front of her.  With no where to go, she hit the brakes,   She hit the side of his car with her right front wheel.  After driving around and asking track officials if she had a flat, they determined that it was only cosmetic damage to her car.

Once the cars got lined back up for the race, it was a beginning to one of the best races of the season in the Super-4's so far.  Terry Hadley led the first few laps, with Rick Rapp right on his heels.  It didn't take too much longer for Rick to find his way around Terry for the lead.

Terry worked over Rick every chance he could.  At one point as they crossed the start finish line, Terry tapped the back of Rick's car which got Rick loose.  As Terry and Rick are friends, Terry backed off the gas, and let Rick recover, and the racing between the two continued.

By this time of the race, Krista was all by herself in 4th, and Joe was making his way through traffic after having to start last for going into the pits.

Terry still tried every thing he could to get by Rick.  Both cars were very evenly matched, but because Rick had the preferred line, that forced Terry to try and find a way around him.  As they entered turn 3 to take the checkers, Terry blasted low, Rick stayed high, but once again, Rick's momentum out of turn 4 was all he needed.  Terry  crossed the line in 2nd.  Krista finished uncontested for 4th, and Joe took the broken nose of the "Spiderman" car across the line in 5th.

As the cars pulled into the pits after going through tech inspection, it was clear that Krista's car didn't just sustain sheet metal damage, her entire upper wheel assembly was broke.  The top of her wheel kept wanting to fold over to the inside.  How that woman held on to that car for 20 laps, just blew the entire crew out of the water.  One crew member commented that Krista's new nickname should be, "Wonder Woman."  A fitting name for what she proved to everyone that night.

BATMAN HAS ARRIVED - TERRY HADLEY WINS THE BUD CUP

June 24 – As a 100+ degree day heated up the Southern Oregon Speedway, “Batman” arrived at the track.  Struggling at first, the “Bat Mobile,” piloted by Terry Hadley, eventually took the win at the mid-season, I-5 Bud Cup for Open Competition 4 cylinders.

As the action got under way with time in’s, the four fastest battled it out in the trophy dash.  Three of the cars were Team Hadley.  Terry Hadley, in the #17 “Batman” car won,  followed by his teammate, “Spiderman” Joe Guider, in his number 19.  Rick Rapp took home third, and driving the number 18 Team Hadley car, Dane Smith, rounded out the field in fourth.

Krista Hadley picked up the win in the first heat race.  The second heat was won by Joe Guider, followed this time by Chris Salyer driving the number 18, and Terry Hadley came in third to finish things up for the team cars.

After a much needed break between racing action, Terry knew something wasn’t right with the “Bat Mobile.”  After several talks with team members, and other crews, he gambled on two big changes.  The first was a rear end gear change, and the second was pulling the rev limiter chip.  The big worry was the chip.  Being as it was an untested motor, no one knew just how many rpm’s the motor would turn, and if it would even hold together.  The A-Main would be the first test.

Krista Hadley also found herself not happy with her car.  It was, “pushing like a dump truck,” on entry into the corners.  That meant that she was having to let off the gas, and lose ground on the other cars.  Taking time to go over notes, and discuss the setup with her crew, some adjustments to the front end, and some slight tire changes were the order of the day.

As the main event got underway, 15 cars started the 25-lap feature event, but only four ended up finishing on the lead lap.

Terry Hadley and Chris Salyer, driving Terry’s number 18 car, battled throughout the race with Hadley holding the lead for 13 laps and Salyer for 11. It appeared as though Chris was going to beat Terry in his own car but it was not to be, as Chris pushed up coming out of turn 4, Terry held his line coming out, and crossed the line to pick up the win.  Terry finally won the Bud Cup which had eluded him for a couple years now.

Team drivers, Joe Guider, and Krista Hadley finished third and fourth respectively, and were also the only other drivers still on the lead lap.

TERRY HADLEY GETS FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

June 17 - Team Hadley once again had a great night of racing at the Southern Oregon Speedway. The track was rather slick from all the rain the Rogue Valley had over the week, so it made racing conditions a bit slippery. That didn't stop the team from great finishes.
Jaime Guider once again continued to show the way in the Mini-Stock class as she won her heat race, and then dominated the Trophy Dash race to bring home the win there.
In the Super-4 class, "Spiderman" Joe Guider and Krista Hadley found themselves in the same heat. While Joe found a line that worked on the slick track, it was evident early on that Krista's car didn't like the track conditions. Joe finished the heat race 2nd, while Krista crossed the line in 5th. Meanwhile, in Terry Hadley's heat race, he soon found the same problem as the other drivers. A wet track. Determined to finish well, Terry worked the throttle, and found himself able to notch a 2nd place finish.
The Mini-Stock trophy dash was the "Intimidator Barbie" show. From the time the green flag dropped, Jaime Guider led the field. Each lap that went by, Jaime opened up that lead over second place. By the time she took the checkered flag, the 2nd place car was just entering turn 3. A dominating win for Jaime, and some much needed bonus points.
The Super-4 Trophy Dash race was the battle of teammates. At the drop of the green flag, Joe Guider dove to the inside of the race track, while Terry Hadley worked the outside of the track. As the two came out of turn 2 they were side by side down the back stretch. Joe once again went low, as Terry went high. That was all that Joe needed. He took the lead. In true Team Hadley fashion, the two drivers cleanly battled one another for the lead. Terry caught him at one point going into turn 1, but the  traction wasn't there and he had to back off the throttle and lost a little bit of ground. Not to settle for second, Terry quickly caught Joe again as the white flag dropped. Terry was right on Joe's back bumper all the way through 1 and 2, and save his last charge for the final turns. Joe used his low line, and Terry went high to try and get a run out of 4. He almost caught Joe, but it was too little too late. Joe took the win, and Terry 2nd.
The Mini-Stock A-Main was probably one Jaime Guider would want to have a do-over on. It started off great with Jaime starting 3rd. She quickly found herself in a group of four cars, all going for the lead. That group of cars battled one another for the first 5 laps of the race. Then coming out of turn 2, Jaime was working the outside groove, as another car was inside. As the two cars exited the turn, Jaime was as close to the wall as she could get. The other car then hit, and rode the inside of her car as she was up against the wall. At first it looked like her car was fine. It wasn't. One lap later, the caution flag came out, and Jaime went into the pits. A flat tire due to the contact.
Jaime came back out with a new tire on the car, but because she had to pit, she had to go to the back of the pack. There were still plenty of laps, but a lot of cars to get through. The green came out, and Jaime passed four cars in that first lap, but soon found herself with cars that were struggling on the slick track. Any other time, you would say the other drivers were blocking, but tonight, it was just the track conditions that caused most of the cars to move up and down the track. Determined not to finish back in the pack, Jaime picked off one car at a time, and eventually found herself in the top 10.
By the time the mud slinging was done, and the checkered flag dropped, Jaime crossed the finish line in 7th place. Though most drivers would have been thrilled with a top 10, it showed on her face that she wanted a better outcome. All in all, coming back from where she did, it was a small victory.
The Super-4 A-Main was the shot in the arm that Terry Hadley has been waiting for. As the green flag waved, Terry worked the high line that had been working for him, and Joe Guider went low. As in the Trophy Dash race, it was teammates, going for the lead. Just as the two were coming out of turn 4 the caution flag came out. That meant a full restart.

This time, as if it was choreographed, Terry took the low line, as Joe ran the high line. Going down the back stretch, the teammates were side by side. Going into turn 3, Terry drove into the corner just a bit harder than normal. At first it looked like the two cars where going to hit, but it didn't happen. Terry just slid up in front of Joe, and coming out of turn 4, Terry had the lead, and the race was on.
Actually, for Joe and Terry, it wasn't much of a race. They pretty much checked out from the rest of the field. Krista Hadley found herself trying to find the right line for her car, and soon fell back to the 6th place position, battling with a group of 4 other cars.

As the laps wound down, a caution came out with 3 laps to go. That set up a green, white, checkered scenario for the field. Everyone was wondering, could Joe put a move on Terry? Could Terry continue to hold off Joe? When the green flag waved, Terry made sure Joe wasn't going to get by. He used the middle of the track to try and block any inside or outside charge from Joe. It worked. As the checker flag came out, Terry Hadley drove to his first win of the 2006 season, Joe finished second, and Krista maintained 6th.
On a racing side note, Jim Poole drove the #18 Super-4 to a win in the 10 lap Pitman's race.

AS THE SUNSET ARRIVES, TEAM HADLEY SHINES

June 10, 2006 - As a beautiful sunset arrived at the Southern Oregon Speedway, Team Hadley was on their way to a great night of racing.

Jaime Guider, who is also known as "Intimidator Barbie," started the team action off by winning her heat race.  That set the momentum.

As fate would have it, all three of the Team Hadley Super-4 drivers found themselves in the same heat race.  Krista Hadley was in the lead with Joe Guider right on her heels.  Then just as the yellow flag came out, Joe Guider took over that spot coming out of turn 4.  As the checkered flag dropped, Joe took the win, Krista held on for second, and Terry came in 3rd.

The trophy dash race created a tense moment for the team as Krista found herself racing for 2nd, and Joe Guider went to the lead.  As her, and another driver entered turn one, Krista went high, and the other driver went low.  As is so typical in racing, not everything goes according to plan.  As Krista was ridding the rim on the high side, the other driver went into the corner too fast and pushed up, and they made contact.  At first it looked like a normal racing incident.

It soon became apparent that Krista's car wasn't handling right.  She quickly fell to 4th place, as Joe fought for the win, but took home second place.

After she pulled into the pit stall, she told the crew that she wasn't able to steer the car.  The power steering rack was broke.  In true team fashion, one crew member went back to the shop to get the new rack, while the rest of the team pulled the broken one out of the car.  Needless to say, by the time the dust settled, Krista's car was fixed.

The A-Mains lent themselves to more exciting racing.  As has been the normal this year for Jaime Guider, she found herself leading the Mini-Stock class once again.

Midway through the race, a car stalled on the back stretch, and led to a multi-car wreck.  The red flag came out as safety crews cleared the cars.

As the green flag waved once again, Jaime continued to lead the pack.  With about 6 laps to go, you could see it happening again, Milt Carter was making his charge to the front.

As the white flag waved, Milt passed Jaime for the lead, but Jaime wasn't done yet.  With lapped traffic in the way, Milt took the low line, and Jaime went high as they entered turn 3.  Coming out of turn 4, a lapped car went up the track right in front of Jaime.  That was all that Milt needed.  Milt took the win, and Jaime claimed another 2nd place finish.

The Super-4 A-Main became the battle between teammates.  Krista Hadley held the 2nd place spot for a handful of laps as she battled with Joe Guider, who eventually worked his way by her.

But she wasn't about to give up that easily.  Terry Hadley was working his way toward her.  The husband and wife team battled one another for several laps.  The old saying of, "Catching them is one thing, but getting by is another," came to mind.  Krista was making Terry work for it.  He finally got by her.  Not for long.  Krista found something, and passed him right back.

Their brief duel ended when Terry, once again, got by Krista.  The first four drivers pretty much separated themselves from the rest of the field.  As the checkered flag waved, Joe Guider took second.  Terry came in third, and Krista maintained fourth.

Though the team celebrated a great and fun night, everyone was happy with Krista's performance, and thrilled with another night of racing.

"INTIMIDATOR BARBIE" JAIME GUIDER WINS HEAT RACE, WINS THE DASH, 3RD IN A-MAIN

May 20, 2006 - Jaime Guider continues to take herself and her car to new levels.  After last weeks near win, Jaime took her #19 Mini-Stock out and won her heat race.  Then, as if that wasn't enough, she went out and won the trophy dash race.  Collecting some very important bonus points.

The A-Main would once again prove to be Jaime's tough animal to tame.  Starting the race in the 8th position, she worked her way through the field, and soon found herself running in that all too familiar, 2nd place.

Then it happened.  A cut tire forced Jaime to slow as the caution came out.  The crew got the tire changed, and got Jaime back on the track.  Though she was toward the back of the pack with 11 laps to go, that only seemed to fire her up.

As the green flag dropped, she kicked it up a notch.  Picking off one driver at a time, Jaime soon found herself in the top 5 again.  That wasn't enough for the lady known as, "Intimidator Barbie."  She wanted more.  She got it.  By the time the checkered flag dropped, Jaime crossed the line in 3rd place.  What a way to finish the race.

The points will be even closer now as the points leader, Milt Carter found himself in trouble during the A-Main.  This it turning into quite a season to watch so far.

A FULL MOON FIASCO OF RACING - THE SUPER 4's HAVE A ROUGH NIGHT ON THE TRACK

May 13, 2006 - The night of racing started off great!  The team was in a great mood.  Laughing, joking, and looking forward to some racing action.  The heat races were pretty uneventful, as "Spiderman," Joe Guider finished second, and transferred to the Trophy Dash race.  He pretty much lead from start to finish in the Dash, and took home the trophy and bonus points.

As the A-Main kicked off, Terry Hadley took advantage of starting 2nd on the grid, and took the lead at the start of the race, with Joe Guider not far behind in 3rd.  Meanwhile, Krista Hadley, who started the race in 7th, found herself battling 4 other cars for position.  Not long into A-Main, Joe went low on another car in turns 3 and 4, and got loose.  Causing Joe to lose control, and spin down toward the infield.  Before you knew it, Joe was back in 8th position.

Meanwhile, Terry was checking out.  He had about a 1/4 lap lead on the field when he started to catch the slower cars.  Krista was still trying to get past cars that were evenly matched, and taking her time doing it.  After getting on the outside of one of the cars coming out of turn 2, the other driver, to avoid hitting Krista on his outside, accidentally hit his accelerator, instead of his breaks, hitting Krista hard on the drivers side.  That forced Krista into the backstretch wall, which her car then climbed, and got on top of.  Her frame throwing sparks as it made contact with the cement wall, almost tipped over onto the track, but eventually came back down on all four wheels as the wall ended.

As that was going on, a slower car in front of Terry wasn't obeying the "move over" flag from the flag stand, and caused Terry to have to slow down.  This went on for almost 3 laps.  That allowed the 2nd and 3rd place cars to catch Terry.  Finally the slower car moved aside.  But the damage was done, the 2nd place car was looking on the inside of Terry, as Terry was using the high line.  A slight bobble going into turn 2 let the 2nd place car get inside of Terry.

Going down the back stretch the

cars were side by side.  Rubbing most the way down.  As the cars entered turn 3 Terry maintained his high line as the other car went low.  The other car then started moving up the track, and eventually forced Terry off the track, and almost into the front stretch wall.  As Terry recovered from the near wreck, the 3rd place car passed Terry for 2nd.  Terry would eventually finish the race in 3rd.

As the battle for the lead went on, Joe Guider found himself evenly matched with the cars 6th through 9th place spots.  He never could gain ground on any of them, and finished the race in 8th.  After Recovering from her near roll over, Krista Hadley composed herself and charged back to finish the race in 9th.  Needless to say, the entire left side of Krista's car is a wrinkled mess.  Terry's car shows damage too from being forced off the track.  All in all, it was a rough end to a fun beginning for the Super 4's.

"INTIMIDATOR BARBIE," JAIME GUIDER JUST MISSES FIRST A-MAIN WIN

May 13, 2006 - Jaime Guider continues to show that she WILL get that elusive A-Main win!  After starting 9th, it didn't take Jaime long to make her moves to the front of the pack.  Slicing and dicing her way through the field, and caution flag came out, and when it did, "Intimidator Barbie," found herself leading the race.  As the green flag waved to get the race underway, Jaime never looked back.  She continued to lead, and pull away.

Being as the cars aren't allowed to have mirrors, or two-way radio's, Jaime didn't know that Milt Carter was making a charge of his own to the front.  Milt finally caught Jaime, and began the battle for the lead.  Milt would go high, Jaime would go low.  Back and forth they went, with Jaime still holding the lead.  Then as they were coming out of turn 4 the caution came out.  Now in previous races, there was no racing back to the yellow.

During the pit meeting, the racers voted to bring back racing to the yellow.  When the caution came out, as it was instinctive from before, Jaime let off the gas, and Milt went by to take the lead at the start finish line.  That late caution flag set up a green, white, checker scenario to finish the race.  As the green flag dropped, Both Jaime and Milt left the rest of the field behind.  It was their race.  Jaime tried everything she could to get by Milt, but it wasn't going to be her night.  Jaime chalked up another 2nd place finish.  Nothing to be disappointed about.  She'll get that win yet!

TEAM HADLEY SWEEPS THE SUPER-4 A-MAIN

April 22, 2006 - The 2006 racing season kicked off in dramatic fashion, as all three Team Hadley Super-4 teammates, finished 1,2, and 3!  Terry Hadley, and Joe Guider battled one another for most of the race, trying to get the first win of the season.  While Joe ran the preferred high line around the track, Terry tried everything in the middle and down low to take the lead.  It wasn't going to be Terry's night.  Instead, Joe hung on, and got the win.  Even though Krista Hadley finished 3rd in the A-Main, it might as well have been a win for her.  That was the first time she raced that car since moving from the Mini-Stock class, and for her, finishing where she did, was a moral victory.  In the Mini-Stock class, Jaime Guider made a successful return to the Mini-Stock class by finishing 4th in the A-Main.  She held off many drivers trying to take that spot away from her, but she wouldn't have any of it!

Other side racing notes, Terry Hadley did win his heat race, and also went on to win the Trophy Dash race.

"MOTHER NATURE" FORCES TRACK TO CANCEL FIRST RACE

April 8, 2006 - After months of preparation, and weeks of anticipation, "Mother Nature" put a damper on the start of the 2006 racing season at the Southern Oregon Speedway.  Track officials hoped the rain would stop long enough to let the track dry, and the pit area drain, but it wasn't going to happen.  There is still rain in the forecast, and it's not looking good for next weekend either.  Let's hope we race before the month of May.

"SPIDERMAN" JOE GUIDER READY FOR 2006

March 15, 2006 - After pulling double duty last season, driving not only in the Mini-Stock's, but also in the Super-4 class, Joe Guider looks forward to concentrating only on the Super-4's.  The very last race of the season for Joe was in Bakersfield, CA, and was one to forget.  Joe got caught up in a wreck, which almost destroyed the whole right side of the car.  Now that the car is repaired, and a fresh set of "Spidey" skins is on, Joe is more than ready to get back on the track.

KRISTA MOVES TO SUPER-4'S

March 15, 2006 - 2005 proved to be a great sophomore season for Krista Hadley.  Not only did she gain confidence in her driving ability, she also finished 4th in the A-Main point standings.  After talking with her husband, Terry Hadley, it was agreed that she would make the leap to the upper level of the 4 cylinder race cars.  Though a bit nervous now, Krista is more than ready to get out there and feed that need for speed.

"INTIMIDATOR BARBIE" JAIME GUIDER IS BACK

March 15, 2006 - Taking the 2005 season off to not only prepare for, but give birth to her new son, Joey, Jaime Guider is climbing back into the familiar #19 Mini-Stock.  With a renewed energy, she is looking forward to getting back out there, going all out, and trying for that illusive A-Main win.  Watch for Jaime this year, she's gonna surprise a lot of people.
